IFWJ कार्यालय में पहुंचने की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार , देश के महत्वपूर्ण समाचार पत्रों में से अधिकांश भारत के उच्चतम न्यायालय के आदेश के अनुपालन में मजीठिया वेज बोर्ड की सिफारिशों को लागू कर दिया है . पुरस्कार मई का भुगतान किया जाना अप्रैल माह से लागू किया जाना है . हम सूचित किया गया है कि ' मलयालम मनोरमा ' और केरल की ' Matrubhumi ' , ' इंडियन एक्सप्रेस ' , ' प्रजावाणि ' , ' डेक्कन हेराल्ड ' और कर्नाटक के ' Sumyukta कर्नाटक ' , आंध्र प्रदेश के ' डेक्कन क्रॉनिकल ' , ' हिंदू जैसे अखबारों ' , ' द न्यू इंडियन एक्सप्रेस मदुरै ' और ' Sakal ' महाराष्ट्र ' ट्रिब्यून ' चंडीगढ़ , ' असम ट्रिब्यून ' तमिलनाडु, की ' Dinamani ' असम , ' Ananad ' दिल्ली , मुंबई, कोलकाता , पीटीआई और की ' द टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया कोलकाता आदि के बाजार पत्रिका समूह ' कर्मचारियों के लिए बढ़ा वेतन देकर वेतन बोर्ड की सिफारिशों को लागू कर दिया है .

Dear Comrades!

Most of the important newspapers of the country, as per the reports reaching in the IFWJ office, have implemented the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board in compliance with the order of the Supreme Court of India. The award has to be implemented from the month of April to be paid in May. We have been informed that the newspapers like ‘Malayalam Manorama’ and ‘Matrubhumi’ of Kerala, ‘Indian Express’, ‘Prajavani’, ‘Deccan Herald’ and ‘Sumyukta Karnataka’ of Karnataka, ‘Deccan Chronicle’ of Andhra Pradesh, ‘Hindu’, ‘New Indian Express Madurai’ and ‘Dinamani’ of Tamilnadu, ‘Sakal’ of Maharashtra, ‘Tribune’ of Chandigarh, ‘Assam Tribune’ of Assam, ‘Times of India’ of Delhi, Bombay, Kolkata, PTI and ‘Ananad Bazar Patrika Group’ of Kolkata etc. have implemented the wage board recommendations by paying the increased salary to employees.

It is, however, a matter or regret that most of the newspapers of the Hindi belt have failed to implement the wage board recommendations. Notable among them are the notorious newspapers like; ‘Dainik Jagran’, ‘Amar Ujala’, ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, ‘Aaj’, ‘Punjab Kesari’, and the ‘Hindustan Times Group of Newspaper’. Even newspapers like, ‘Rashtriya Sahara’ and ‘Prabhat Khabar’ of Jharkhand and Bihar, which are run by thugs and cheats have not implemented the recommendations. What is most surprising is that ‘The Statesman’ which considers itself to be the paragon virtues and leader of the so-called bold journalism has also failed to honour the verdict handed down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

The Indian Express Newspapers being published from many centers is a class apart and is known for its contemptible notoriety. This newspaper has always challenged all wage boards awards. This is for the first time this newspaper has been comprehensively defeated in the highest court of land. However, as they say, ‘old habits die hard and bad habits die harder’ this newspaper has adopted another tactics to deny the increased wages by intimidating the employees to closedown if they insist on their demand for the implementation of the wage board awards.

We request all the newspaper employees unions to call the bluff of this exploitative management and rise to the occasion to get their rights. Newspaper managements have earlier been depriving to pay the wage board wages because weak, feeble and effeminate state governments used to buckle under the pressure of the blackmailing newspapers. Nevertheless, this time they cannot go scot-free because the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India with the speaking and reasoned order has dismissed their petitions. In case they do not implement, they will be hauled- up for the contempt of the court. Indian Federation of Working Journalists promises to all newspaper employees that it will stand by them in their struggle to get their rightful wages.

We would also like to state that the IFWJ as put in lot of labour and devoted much of time in fighting for the wage board at different levels. No levy has ever been imposed by us at any point of time for the shake of the wage board. This time when newspaper employees are getting benefits ranging from Rs. 17,000/- to Rs. 73,000/- per month, depending on the grade of the employee and the classification of the newspaper ,we appeal to your reason to kindly voluntarily contribute certain amount to us at least once. Any contribution from your side will be a morale booster for us.
