JOURNALISTS SHOULD BE ALERT & SENSITIVE: GUV Sunday, 08 September 2013 | SR | Bhopal | in Bhopal
Governor Ram Naresh Yadav has said that journalists should be alert and sensitive so that they can remove negativity prevailing in the society. He was addressing the concluding session of a meeting of Working Journalists’ Federation’s working committee here on Saturday.
He said that journalism is a powerful medium to give new direction to society. A number of innovations and changes are being witnessed in journalism in present days.
 On the occasion, Governor Yadav honoured JK Singh with shawl and memento for outstanding work in journalism. Eight other people were also honoured for outstanding performances in different fields. These included former Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste for tribal upliftment, Gwalior Commissioner KK Khare for Narmada flood control, Sagar Commissioner Rajkumar Mathur for efficient administration, Aruneshwar Singh for sports activities, Manoj Pradhan and Premsukhji Goyal for social service, Ajay Goenka for health services and Nikhat Ali was felicitated for service to women. Federation’s National President K Vikram Rao presided over the programme.
The Governor said that it is true that journalists are also human beings and have right to a decent living. The journalists, who work honestly and fearlessly are worthy to be called true journalists. He specially referred to the journalists who essayed significant role in India’s freedom movement.
Labour Minister Jagannath Singh said that media has an important place in the country. He said that journalists should pay attention to rebuild nation and society.
Yadav was felicitated on behalf of the federation. The Governor also released magazine ‘Sanskaranjali’. Ravindra Pancholi proposed a vote of thanks. At the outset, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tributes to late Shanti Devi, the wife of Governor Yadav. A large number of journalists were present on the occasion.
